Die Segler Deggendorf e.V.
Die Segler Deggendorf e.V. have been active at Lake Burgsee in Deggendorf-Natternberg since 2000 and now have more than 170 members. As a member of the Bavarian and German Sailing Associations, the club offers dinghy sailing from the Optimist and Laser class to larger boats, a diverse training programme from the junior sailing certificate to the offshore sailing licence, and regular club regattas from the opening sail to the autumn regatta. The club grounds at Lake Burgsee provide various club boats, including eight Optimists for youth sailors; berths on land and, in limited numbers, on the water are available for suitable private boats. The active youth section trains for the junior sailing certificate, the East Bavarian Opti League and events such as the annual Pirate Day. The club has been repeatedly recognised by the German Sailing Association for its training work.
History
Die Segler Deggendorf e.V. have been active since 2000 and have become a fixture of the sailing scene in Lower Bavaria. Membership has grown to more than 170 sailors since the club was founded. Otto Maier served as chairman from 2004 to 2014. Many activities take place on the home waters of Lake Burgsee in the Deggendorf district of Natternberg, where the club grounds are located; a local recreation area is also being developed there. The club is a member of the Bavarian Sailing Association and the German Sailing Association (DSV BA233) and has run successful club regattas for many years – from the opening sail and summer cup to the autumn regatta. In youth sailing, the club regularly competes in the East Bavarian Opti League and Opti-B regattas; the annual Pirate Day at Lake Burgsee is a fixed event for children. The club has been awarded four times in a row by the German Sailing Association for its training programmes and instructor qualifications. Training ranges from the junior sailing certificate for children aged 8 and over through the sport sailing certificate and inland and sea boat licences to the coastal and offshore sailing licences and radio courses. In cruising, trips are offered regularly, including on the northern Adriatic. The club website has existed since 2007 and documents the chronicle of the years 2000 to 2020.
