Delphin-Segelclub e.V. Wasserburg
Delphin-Segelclub e.V. Wasserburg is a long-established sailing club on the western shore of Lake Constance in Eschbach Bay, founded in 1970 to promote the sport of sailing. The club combines athletic activity with community spirit and offers 70 land mooring places for single-hull sailing dinghies no longer than 5.5 metres. The club name refers to the Delphin boat type built by Südnautik in Rothkreuz near Lindau – a stable hard-chine dinghy with two centreboards, ideal for learning to sail. Around 120 members sail in the scenic surroundings of Wasserburg on Lake Constance; launching and recovery is done manually via a natural slipway in a landscape protection area. As a pure sailing club, it welcomes both beginners and experienced sailors and regularly closes the season with events such as the end-of-season fun regatta.
History
Delphin-Segelclub e.V. Wasserburg (Lake Constance) was founded in 1970 and has since promoted sailing in the region. The club is located on the western shore of Lake Constance in Wasserburg at Eschbach Bay and is registered with the Kempten district court under registration number VR 30006. The club name is based on the Delphin boat type built by Südnautik in Rothkreuz near Lindau – a distinctive dinghy with two centreboards instead of one, built as a hard-chine design and rigged with 9.5 m² or 11 m² of sail area. Over more than five decades, the club has grown into a established organisation with around 120 members and 70 land mooring places. The club premises are in a landscape protection area; launching and recovery of boats is permitted only manually via a natural slipway. As a pure sailing club, Delphin-Segelclub focuses on community and sporting activity on Lake Constance and is aimed at sailors with their own single-hull dinghies up to 5.5 metres in length. Events such as the 2025 end-of-season fun regatta with start and finish at buoys 55b and 55c and a course around Alwinder Berg shape the annual club life and sporting season finale.
