Duisburger Segel-Club e.V. (DSC) is a sailing club at the Sechs-Seen-Platte in Duisburg-Wedau, offering water sports on Lake Masurensee, Lake Wolfssee and the other lakes of the complex. The club grounds include a clubhouse with terrace, halls for boat storage, mooring facilities and an active racing and training culture. The fleet includes Optimist, Laser/ILCA, 420, Kielzugvogel, Dragon and 470 classes; the club hosts regattas such as Opti-Pott, Blaues Band and the Martin's Regatta. The award-winning youth section offers taster sailing, weekly Optimist beginner training and Wednesday sessions for adults and juniors. Cruising members enjoy Holland trips and club burgee certificates; the weekly Wednesday regatta and cooperation with DKSC and DUYC shape club life.
History
Duisburger Segel-Club e.V. (DSC) is a registered association at Duisburg District Court under register number VR 1499 and is based at the Sechs-Seen-Platte in Duisburg-Wedau. The club website has documented club life since 2008; cruising has a long tradition at DSC, highlighted at the cruising awards evening in November 2024 when former chairman Wolfgang Wuttke recalled the history of cruising in the club. In 2023 and 2024, members logged a combined 9953 nautical miles on the Baltic, North Sea, Ijsselmeer, Wadden Sea and in the Caribbean. Racing and opening-of-season sailing on Masurensee and Wolfssee mark the season; the club hosts events including the 470 Martin's Regatta, Opti-Pott and Blaues Band regattas. After many years without an Optimist regatta at the Sechs-Seen-Platte, Opti-Pott celebrated its premiere at DSC and is intended to reopen the racing season. The youth section was named Youth Section of the Year in 2018 and again in 2024 and cooperates with DKSC and DUYC, including the German Sailing Youth Roadshow in 2025. The self-organised Wednesday regatta runs weekly, starting at 18:00 with staggered Yardstick starts at neighbouring clubs. The grounds with clubhouse, terrace and halls host racing, training, St Nicholas celebrations and community work such as leaf clearing and boat launch.
