Club Náutico Santa Eulalia
Club Náutico Santa Eulalia is a long-established watersports club in the bay of Santa Eulària on Ibiza, based at Port Esportiu. Founded in October 1991, the club brings together sailing, swimming, kayaking and fishing under one roof and offers modern facilities on the Paseo Marítimo plus access to municipal swimming pools. Its sailing school with Optimist and ILCA fleets, an active youth regatta team and inclusive programmes such as Navegamos todos make it a central hub of Balearic watersports. Around one thousand members, more than a hundred active athletes and year-round courses for all ages shape its diverse Mediterranean offering.
History
Club Náutico Santa Eulalia was born in October 1991 from a group of friends who dreamed of founding a nautical club in Santa Eulalia to bring watersports to the whole community. With support from founding members and the town council, the club was officially constituted and began its sporting activity. The first headquarters was a small office above the Rincón del Marino, where regattas, meetings and traditional paellas after competitions were organised. The town hall then built the current premises on the Paseo Marítimo next to the marina, allowing the club to consolidate and expand its services. The sailing school was the club's first major commitment: it started with six Optimist boats and six windsurf boards and became the heart of the organisation. In later years the school moved to the sports harbour and then to its current location on the Paseo Marítimo, where modern complete facilities were inaugurated in 2011. Today the school has a large fleet of Optimist, Laser and cruising yachts plus boards for year-round sailing at all levels. In 2003 the club was a pioneer in the Pitiusas with adapted sailing for people with physical, psychological or sensory disabilities. The swimming section was created in 1998 with the opening of the covered heated municipal pool; before that, swimming in Santa Eulalia was limited to outdoor summer courses. Club Náutico Natación Santa Eulalia (CNNSE) was founded as its own team and has competed continuously since 1999, with regional successes and numerous medals at Spanish championships. Kayaking is the youngest section and since September 2017 has grown from informal meet-ups into a year-round organised school. Sport fishing has been part of the club's tradition from the start with social competitions each season. The club has hosted major events including the 2013 Tornado World Championship, the Copa de España de Vela Adaptada, Ultraswim Ibiza and the Copa España Aguas Abiertas. Presidents have been Manuel Espinosa de la Garza (1991–1993), Mariano Marí Costa (1993–1995), José Marí Juan (1995–2024) and since 2024 José Bartolomé Guasch Tur. Today the club has around one thousand members, more than a hundred active athletes and welcomes thousands of visitors each year.
