Club Náutico de San José
Club Náutico de San José is an established nautical club on the coast of the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park in Almería, promoting a passion for the sea for more than fifty years. The San José marina offers 244 berths with a maximum length of 12 metres, six metres depth at the entrance and comprehensive port services including selective waste collection and black and bilge water reception. The club's sailing school teaches sailing from beginner to advanced levels, as well as windsurfing and wingfoil, and RS Feva ranking regattas are also organised. The programme includes fishing, padel and numerous environmental and social events, including recurring Blue Flag activities for children and adults.
History
On 17 March 1971 a group of sea lovers from San José decided to create a nautical club that would share their common vision. In the former premises of the Club de Mar de Almería, the enthusiasts who are now recognised as founding members constituted the Club Náutico de San José at a general assembly. After the authorisation granted by the Governor of Almería, Juan Mena de la Cruz, on 3 February 1971, the then Mayor of Almería, Francisco Gómez Angulo, assumed the presidency on 8 February 1971 and read the club statutes, which were finally approved by the Consejo Superior de Deportes on 21 December 1984. The marina project was directed by Alejandro Pascual Berenguel and executed by José Mª Tejera Pacheco after the concession granted by the Council of Ministers on 12 February 1982. The first stone was laid on 25 April 1982, beginning years of development. The Junta de Andalucía authorised provisional operation on 26 July 1984, and on 30 July 1984 the first vessel in transit, the Swiss flagged sailboat "De Klomp", entered the port. The official inauguration took place on 14 August 1984 with founding members, port staff and authorities in attendance. The club continues to honour its founding members, including Francisco Gómez Angulo, Ramón Durbán Córdoba, Enrique Romero Ramos, Thomas Bayne Wilson, José Mª Tejera Pacheco and many others whose dedication made the port of San José a reality.
