Club Vela Mataró - 08300 Mataró

Club Vela Mataró is a sailing club in the Port de Mataró on the Catalan Mediterranean coast in the Maresme region. The social clubhouse and offices are located in the upper harbour area; a beaching area for light sailing boats with a floating ramp is situated at the end of the breakwater at pontoon R, complemented by changing rooms and showers of the port. Thanks to its position at the harbour entrance, boats can leave under sail with minimal manoeuvres without needing a motor tender. The club organises major regattas each year such as Costa Brava, Trofeu Les Santes, Mataró-Blanes-Mataró and the Regata Inversa, co-ordinates the Maresme Sud and SuperSocial series with neighbouring clubs, and runs social regattas every Sunday for sailors of all levels. The club also offers a sailing school, holiday programmes such as the summer camp and a crew bank for regatta participants.

History

The XXV Regata Mataró – Blanes – Mataró in 2022 marked the 25th edition of this long-standing offshore regatta organised by the club. Over the decades, Club Vela Mataró has become a central organiser of sailing in the Maresme, hosting the Costa Brava regatta, Trofeu Les Santes and Regata Inversa alongside an extensive social racing calendar. Together with clubs in Masnou, Premià, El Balís and Arenys de Mar, the club co-organises the Maresme Sud and SuperSocial series. For years, social regattas supported by the Port de Mataró have been held every Sunday of the year to encourage sailors of all levels to compete. The club also takes part in social projects such as the inclusive regatta organised by Associació Nàutica Social Thalassa, providing race equipment and a committee boat.
