Club Vela Canet
Club Vela Canet is a small sailing club on the Maresme coast in Canet de Mar with a long club history dating back to 1968. In a privileged seaside location, the club combines sailing, leisure, education and community, working with professional instructors. The programme includes sailing courses of five two-hour sessions, one-hour taster sessions and boat rental for one or two hours or ten-hour packages along the Canet coastline. Since 2023, Escola Vela Canet has also operated in partnership with the club to teach even more people in the region how to sail. In summer, the club runs a nautical holiday programme for children and young people aged 3 to 18, and a social space invites members to stay on after activities.
History
Club Vela Canet was founded in 1968 and grew into a small sailing club on the Maresme coast with a rich history. The club lives and enjoys the sea and sees itself as a place for sailing, wind, beach, leisure, education and learning in Canet de Mar. Since its founding, the club has shaped nautical life in the region and offers professional instruction in a privileged setting. At the end of 2021, the Escola Vela Sant Pol project started with the aim of creating a space for nautical sailing activities where many people could enjoy the sea. In 2023 this initiative joined forces with Club Vela Canet, which shared the same vision – thus Escola Vela Canet was born to bring sailing to even more residents of the Maresme. Today the club offers courses of five two-hour sessions, one-hour taster sessions and boat rental alongside the sailing school. In summer it runs a nautical holiday programme for children and young people aged 3 to 18 with sailing, catamaran, kayak, paddle and other water sports. A social meeting space complements the offer and invites people to stay together after activities on the water.
