History

The current clubhouse of Circolo Nautico Cervia on the Banchina lato Milano Marittima has existed since the early 1950s in a prestigious location with direct access to the sea. The club experienced an interruption of activities from 1973 and was practically closed from 1973 to 1977. In 1977, the "Amici della Vela" resumed club activities and contributed to the refoundation of the Circolo, updating its name accordingly. Over the following decades, the club became a central anchor of sailing in Cervia and on the Romagnola Adriatic coast. The Tenza di Cervia was founded in 1984 on the initiative of Paolo Puzzarini, a friend and member of the club, and is part of the Mariegola delle Vele al Terzo e delle Barche da Lavoro delle Romagne, whose first founding act was documented only in 2004. Today the Mariegola comprises six founding Tenze in the ports of Cervia, Cesenatico, Bellaria, Rimini, Riccione and Cattolica. The Veleggiata "Vele al Chiaro di Luna" was created in the early 1990s under vice-president Alessandro and president Giorgio Galeati and has become a traditional event spanning more than thirty years. The Rotta del Sale, a historical re-enactment of the Adriatic salt route from Cervia to Venice from the time of the Serenissima, was also initiated by Paolo Puzzarini in 2001. The club is concessionaire and operator of mooring services for recreational boating in the Porto Canale di Cervia and manages a significant stretch of the northern quay. Annual Tenza activities include the Cursa di Batell as a prelude to the Sposalizio del Mare and further gatherings and regattas along the Romagnola coast.
