Centre Nautique de Saint-Cast-le-Guildo
Centre Nautique de Saint-Cast-le-Guildo is a sailing club under French association law (Association loi 1901) on the Brittany coast in Saint-Cast-le-Guildo. At Le Port harbour, keelboat sailing is offered with four J/80 one-designs and traditional sailing aboard the Dragous; at Grande Plage, the Spot Nautique handles dinghy sailing, equipment hire and the Club Gliss programme. Facilities include a clubhouse with bar, pontoons, a 2.5-tonne travel lift, secure monotype storage and parking at the harbour and directly above the beach. The programme covers weekly courses, Club Gliss, Club Habitable, youth activities such as Club Pirates and Optimist courses, plus regattas and training with professional coaching. Since purchasing its first J/80 in 1999, the club has become a recognised centre for sport keelboat sailing and was French J/80 champion three times in the last 15 years.
History
Centre Nautique de Saint-Cast is an Association de loi 1901 with a bureau and board of directors. Keelboat sailing development began in 1999 with the purchase of the first J/80; the fleet gradually grew to four J/80 one-designs that form the sporting core of the club at the harbour. The traditional Dragous celebrated 30 years of sailing in 2018 and is used for traditional sailing from Easter to Toussaint. Over the last 15 years the club was French champion in J/80 three times and in Open 5.7 twice, establishing its reputation in sport keelboat racing. At Le Port on Rue du Port Jacquet, keelboat and traditional sailing are organised; at Grande Plage the Spot Nautique runs dinghy sailing, hire and Club Gliss. The centre is labelled by the Fédération Française de Voile and approved by Jeunesse et Sport, combining professional coaches with volunteer structures for courses, club life and regattas.
