Cercle de la Voile de Vidy
Cercle de la Voile de Vidy is a long-established sailing club in Lausanne on Lake Geneva and an important part of the regional sailing community around Vidy. The club combines racing activity with structured training through its Centre de Formation, offering courses for children, teenagers and adults from first steps to regatta-focused progression. Club life is strongly shaped by the organisation of races at local and national level, complemented by school sailing weeks and tailored programmes for different skill levels. Founded in 1953 and counting around 400 members, the club has built a sustained pathway for youth development, sailing licence preparation, and advancement on dinghies as well as ballasted keelboats.
History
Cercle de la Voile de Vidy (CVV) was founded in 1953 and has grown into one of the major sailing associations in the Lausanne area, with around 400 members. As one of 150 clubs affiliated with Swiss-Sailing, it is firmly integrated into organised sailing at national level. The club has a strong competition focus, and several members have won titles on Swiss and international waters and have also participated in the Olympic Games. Regatta organisation plays a central role in club life; over the years CVV has staged multiple Swiss and European championships, strengthening its expertise in major events. In parallel, the training centre has been continuously developed to introduce juniors and adults to recreational sailing and to prepare candidates for the sailing licence. Building on this structure, members can improve on dinghies and ballasted keelboats and represent the club in a range of regattas.
