Bällstavikens Segel Sällskap
Bällstavikens Segel Sällskap (BSS) is a non-profit sailing club in the Stockholm region with a visitor address at Solna Strandväg 39 in Solna and a postal address in Sundbyberg. The club enables its members to sail and race, maintains pier berths in Bällstaviken and promotes interest in sailing. Club berths are available for the summer season, and limited winter berths are accessible via membership of Kyrkhamns Varvsförening; there is also a clubhouse in Kyrkhamn for minor repairs. Regular Wednesday and Saturday sails followed by a barbecue on the pier shape club life, complemented by special events such as the season opener, National Day sail, crayfish sail and pea-soup sail. Founded in 1933 in Sundbyberg, BSS looks back on more than 90 years as a non-profit association for boat owners with its own harbour facilities.
History
Bällstavikens Segel Sällskap (BSS) was founded in 1933 in Sundbyberg and, according to the club, has existed for 92 years as of 2025. The non-profit association aims to enable sailing and racing for interested members, to provide and maintain pier berths, and to promote interest in sailing in general. The harbour is maintained by the members themselves; the summer season runs from 1 May to 30 October and the winter season from 1 November to 30 April. The club is a member of Kyrkhamns Varvsförening and thereby has limited access to winter berths; members who wish to use a winter berth must also join KVF. In Kyrkhamn there is a clubhouse for minor repairs. Since April 2018 written harbour rules apply to the harbour, pier, shore power, fresh water and winter lay-ups. Club life is shaped by regular sailing programmes with Wednesday and Saturday sails and special events such as the season opener, National Day sail, Vinnarvarvet, crayfish sail and pea-soup sail, each ending with a barbecue on the pier.
