Club Nautique Bourquais

Club Nautique Bourquais is a traditional French sailing club in Bourg-sur-Gironde at the confluence of the Dordogne and the Gironde estuary. As a member of the Fédération Française de Voile, the club organises regattas and leisure outings on the estuary and offers initiation weekends on habitable race yachts of about eight metres. Facilities include pontoons, a crane, a tractor and club boats with handling gear; guest berths are available for a daily fee. Reception and information are held on Saturday mornings; young sailors are welcomed via the “petits moussaillons” stand and reduced fees. Founded in 1936, the club remains a fixture of estuary sailing and celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2026 with a regatta, exhibitions and discovery sails.

History

Club Nautique Bourquais was founded in 1936 and registered on 22 January 1936 under number 159 at the Préfecture de Blaye; publication in the Journal Officiel followed on 31 January 1936. The statutes and internal rules were most recently confirmed by the extraordinary general meeting of 27 January 2024. Affiliated to the Fédération Française de Voile, the association promotes water sports, initiation and training, and organises nautical events on the Gironde estuary. Over the decades the club developed into an active racing and leisure club with its own pontoons, crane, tractor and winter storage. In spring 2026 a new pontoon was installed under the direction of Mathieu Perez. In June 2026 the club marked its 90th anniversary with a race around the island off Bourg, a photo contest, maritime games, a stand for young sailors, Dordogne discovery trips and exhibitions on club and estuary history. Today the CNB continues to run estuary regattas, leisure outings and initiation weekends, welcoming visitors on Saturday mornings at 2 bis quai des Verreries in Bourg-sur-Gironde.
