Bogø Sejlklub
Bogø Sejlklub is the sailing club of the Danish island of Bogø and is based at Bogø Havn. The club has a clubhouse and organises as one of the highlights of the sailing year the family-friendly regatta Tærø rundt, which has been run since 1990 entirely by large volunteer efforts from the club. Alongside keelboat racing such as the Sydsjællands pokalserie and an active junior section, the offer is aimed at club members and visiting sailors. The Tærø rundt course covers about 25 nautical miles for keelboats as well as a shorter option of about 15 nautical miles; motor sailors can take part on an adapted course. Since 2025 the course no longer goes around the island of Tærø, in order to spare boats with deeper draught. The event is known for prizes for all finishers and for the cosy atmosphere from the race office through to the evening tent with music and barbecue.
History
A central chapter in the history of Bogø Sejlklub is the family-friendly regatta Tærø rundt. Since 1990 participating boats have rounded the local island of Tærø, and the event has since been carried entirely by large volunteer efforts from the club. It is regarded as one of the major events of Bogø Sejlklub's sailing year. After several comments from sailors who feared damage to boats with a draught of about two metres or more in the demanding waters around Tærø, the courses were redesigned in 2025: racing no longer goes around Tærø. Instead the club offers an approximately 25-nautical-mile course for keelboats scored under GPH, a shorter option of about 15 nautical miles, and an adapted course for motor sailors under LYS. Start and finish lie between two orange marks east of the harbour entrance to Bogø Havn. The programme includes a skippers' meeting, race office, prizes for all finishers and an evening in the tent with bar, live music, barbecue and American raffle. The club website also points to a junior section, the Sydsjællands pokalserie for kølbåde and a dedicated area for visiting sailors.
