History

APCC (Association pour la Promotion de la Course Croisière) was founded in 1978 by engineering professors from École Centrale de Nantes. The registered office is in Nantes on the campus, while sailing activities take place mainly at the Pornichet marina in the Bay of La Baule. Over the decades the club became a nationally and internationally recognised performance centre, especially in match racing and on the J/80 fleet. Many top sailors and Olympic athletes have come from the club or still race under APCC colours. The club regularly organises major events with the Ligue de Voile des Pays de la Loire and the French Sailing Federation, including the Internationaux de France de Match Racing, Grand Prix Atlantique, National J80, Women’s Cup and Défi des Centraliens. For several years APCC has ranked among the clubs with the most licences issued in Pays de la Loire and today runs a fleet of ten J/80s and a year-round sports school for members of all levels.
