Aalborg Søspejdere
Aalborg Søspejdere is a sea scout group under Det Danske Spejderkorps based at Søsportsvej 6 in Aalborg on the Limfjord. The group runs sailing activities for children, young people and adults, with a station from 1939 including a boat hall and its own fleet of dinghies, an International Folkebåd and the vessel Safiren. The programme ranges from Familiespejd through Mini, Junior and Trop units to the Havgasserne and Gasen clans, with regular sailing training, summer cruises and the traditional Clo-Race. A distinctive feature is the group's own Sejlgrader qualification system, plus land bases including the Flamsted hut from 1957 and the Staun plot on the fjord.
History
Aalborg Søspejdere is a sea scout group under Det Danske Spejderkorps. The station on Søsportsvej dates from 1939 and remains the central Limfjord base with boat hall and facilities. In 1957 the primitive patrol hut in Flamsted about 20 km south of Aalborg was built; it has paraffin lamps, a wood stove and an old water pump and is used for hut trips. In 1970 the sea scouts persuaded the then Nørrejydske District to buy a strip of salt marsh at Staun between Nibe and Løgstør; the group later took over the plot and uses it as an anchorage and camping site on westward cruises. The group maintains a dinghy fleet and clan boats including an International Folkebåd and Safiren, and acquired the modern escort vessel Jack after replacing the older wooden ship Marina. Funding of 390,000 kroner from the A.P. Møller Foundation was granted for a new support vessel; further support came from TrygFonden, Friluftsrådet, the Hempel Foundation and Richardt Raetzels Mindefond. The group is celebrating its 100th anniversary, including a jubilee party in the boat hall. Sailing training uses a Sejlgrader system from Gast to 1st grade; the sailing regulations were revised in 2021.
