History

NDC Voile Angers was founded in 1969 as both a club and a sailing school and looks back on more than 57 years of sailing on Lac de Maine. The club grew around the artificial lake: in the 1960s gravel was extracted near the Saint-Serge district; after about ten years of quarrying, the former pit became Lac de Maine in 1971, which the city reforested, landscaped and developed as a leisure area. There NDC Voile established itself to promote leisure sailing, sport sailing and teaching for a broad public from age 6 – women and men, children, people with and without disabilities. Over the years the offer expanded to include year-round courses, camps, training and instructor education (CQP Initiateur de Voile, BPJEPS in partnership with CREPS Pays de la Loire). Today the club is labelled École Française de Voile and Sport Santé, counts over 200 members annually and is run by an elected board together with permanent instructors and seasonal CQP IV staff. League regattas, club sails, festivities and volunteer commitment continue to shape club life on Lac de Maine.
