Real Club Náutico de Gandia
Real Club Náutico de Gandia is a traditional sailing and watersports club at the Mediterranean harbour of Gandia in the province of Valencia. Based on Passeig Marítim de Neptú, it offers berths from 6 to 30 metres, 24-hour marina staff, a hardstanding area, water and power on the pontoons, parking, showers and Wi-Fi. As a sailing school recognised by the Federació de Vela de la Comunitat Valenciana, the club sails Optimist, ILCA, Laser Pico, Vaurien, 420 and 470 dinghies as well as cruiser sailing, rowing and sport fishing. Courses and training welcome children, adults and visitors with no prior experience and run all year round. A distinctive feature is the rowing section founded in 1992, with school programmes and national titles, plus an active regatta scene including the annual cruiser league and interclub trophies along Valencia’s southern coast.
History
Real Club Náutico de Gandia (RCNG) is the traditional yacht and sports club at Gandia harbour on the Valencian Mediterranean coast. In 1992 the club created its rowing section focused on school programmes, leisure and competition; school projects target young people in Gandia and educational centres across Spain. Competitively the rowing section repeatedly topped Banco Fijo leagues (first place eight times, second six times, third nine times) and won five Spanish championships or Copa de España titles, five silvers and fifteen bronzes. Since 1994 the club has hosted a league race in the sheltered harbour basin. The sailing school is recognised by the Federació de Vela de la Comunitat Valenciana and trains dinghy and cruiser sailors with qualified instructors. In recent years the club has been shaped by the fight over the harbour concession: in 2024 the Autoridad Portuaria de Valencia ordered vacation of the facilities, while the club and its members campaign publicly and in court to recover the concession, including complaints to the port authority, the Consejo de Transparencia and an admitted contencioso-administrativo case. Meanwhile the club continues the annual Neurored cruiser league and interclub races with Cullera and Oliva and has used its website since 2025 as a news portal for members and supporters.
