Club Náutico Alicante Costa Blanca

Club Náutico Alicante Costa Blanca is a long-established sailing and water-sports club on the Costa Blanca in Alicante, with its own harbour basin and sports facilities. The club runs a sailing school homologated by the Federación Valenciana de Vela, plus rowing, windsurfing, SUP, kayaking and sport fishing. The grounds include a sea-facing terrace, halls, slipway, crane, showers, sauna/gym and a restaurant. Junior and adult training, summer camps and regattas shape the programme; the Escuela de Vela Azul also teaches environmental awareness. Since its founding in 1973 and its 50th anniversary in 2023, the club has focused on youth development and open access to water sports in Alicante.

History

On 27 February 1973 a group of water-sports enthusiasts founded Club Náutico Alicante Costa Blanca in Alicante. At the constitutive assembly at 20:00 in the Salón de Actos of the Casa Sacerdotal on Calle Aureliano Ibarra nº 9, the first board was appointed, including president Joaquín López Baeza. The aim was to promote water sports among children and young people in Alicante by buying boats and training athletes. Sailing, rowing and sport fishing became core activities; generational succession and sailing and rowing schools ensured continuity. Early boards built the harbour and attracted members. Since 2016 the board fought to renew the administrative concession; at the end of 2022 the Conselleria granted a 12-year extension, with safety and operational works in the harbour basin. On 5 May 2023 the 50th anniversary was celebrated with a new logo and event calendar; a club history magazine was planned. Today the schools welcome more than 1,000 children each year; around 300 users are sports members in rowing, paddle surf or dinghy sailing, and 95 percent of facility users are not full numbered members. The sailing school is homologated by the Federación Valenciana de Vela (EVCV-VL/TDV – AL – 040) and holds the Gallardete Azul Ecoescuelas award.
