Mariehamns Seglarförening
Mariehamns Seglarförening (MSF) is an active, family-friendly sailing club with its home harbour in Östra Hamnen in Mariehamn on Åland. Club life centres on the harbour building with clubrooms, a junior house in the northern section, Restaurant Club Marin in the south and a guest harbour in the middle. Members use Optimist and Laser dinghies of the dinghy section, windsurf boards, sailing schools, the club islands Seglarnästet and Möholm, and evening keelboat sailing. The youth section starts at the dinghy pier, usually sails on Slemmern and, when weather allows, visits Seglarnästet; the guest harbour with about 9,000 boat overnight stays each summer is a core part of club activity. Since the 1940s Seglarnästet in Kalmarviken has been the club base with a cabin and sauna for member activities and the popular summer sailing camp.
History
Mariehamns Seglarförening (MSF) is Mariehamn's sailing association with its home harbour in Östra Hamnen. Since the 1940s the club has used Seglarnästet in Kalmarviken as its base, with a cabin and sauna for member activities including the popular summer sailing camp. In the southern Föglö archipelago MSF maintains the excursion harbour island Möholm. The guest harbour is a major part of club operations and records about 9,000 boat overnight stays each year. The harbour building houses clubrooms and the junior house in the north, the guest harbour in the centre and Restaurant Club Marin in the south; the summer restaurant has been run by Lene-Maj since 2019. The dinghy section has over 100 square metres in the junior house plus Optimist and Laser dinghies at the dinghy pier.
