History

Międzyszkolny Ośrodek Sportowy nr 2 in Warsaw has operated for more than 63 years as an extracurricular education facility closely linked to the city and its residents. The centre works under Poland’s education system law and aims at the holistic personal development of young people through sport. Attached to the centre is the sports association Międzyszkolny Klub Sportowy Dwójka Warszawa, which enables talented participants to enter competitions organised by Polish sports federations. Training and competition for children and youth of MKS Dwójka are supported among other sources by grants from the City of Warsaw Office of Sport and Recreation. Many top athletes have emerged from the MOS nr 2 environment, including Olympic champions and world champions in rowing as well as internationally successful windsurfers and sailors. The sailing section maintains youth classes such as Optimist, Cadet and 420 and takes part in regional and national regattas. The centre also organises major events such as the Warsaw high-school eights race on the Vistula and other junior races. Today the offer covers sailing, windsurfing and rowing and is aimed expressly at children and young people with a focus on sporting and social development.
