Moss Seilforening
Moss Seilforening is the sailing club of Moss and operates Søly marina on the southeast side of Jeløya. With just over 300 permanent berths, a clubhouse, mast crane, slipway and winter storage, the club offers a broad programme for dinghy and keelboat sailors. The active dinghy section sails mainly Optimist and 29er, and two club-owned J/70s are available for training and racing. Beginner and summer sailing courses, the weekly Navigare Cup, and cruising and racing define the programme for all ages. The 2026–2030 strategy under the motto “Livslang seiling” aims for more sailors, stronger volunteering and a vibrant club community in the coastal town of Moss.
History
Moss Seilforening sees itself as a sailing club for lifelong sailing and, besides sport, manages extensive facilities: clubhouse, harbour infrastructure, boats, machinery and green areas at Søly. At the annual meeting on 19 March, the 2026–2030 strategy and organisational plan were adopted. The vision is “Livslang seiling” – sailing for all life stages; the mission is to get more residents of Moss and the surrounding area onto the water. Strategic priorities are a stable harbour economy as the main income source, more active sailors of all ages, inclusion and an open club milieu, and local anchoring in Moss as a coastal town. The previously mandatory eight-hour night watch for boat owners in the harbour was abolished; instead a volunteer group with four hours of contribution according to personal capacity is to apply. The organisational plan also provides for a daglig leder role to coordinate activity, events, volunteering, harbour and the club’s community role. Recent developments at the site include the sauna raft on the mole by Vårlistranda and the expansion of the sporting offer with club-owned J/70s and an active dinghy group.

Activities
Organised dinghy training (Optimist, 29er), club-owned J/70s for training and racing, beginner courses during the school year, summer sailing school in holiday weeks, weekly Navigare Cup, cruising and offshore sailing, local to national regattas, boat licence course together with Sjøakademiet AS.
Youth section
Active dinghy group with beginner courses for swimming-competent children and youths (ages 7–16), weekly training and summer sailing school in weeks 26, 27, 32 and 33.
