Wassersportgemeinschaft Hagnau e.V.
Wassersportgemeinschaft Hagnau e.V. (WSGHa) is an active sailing and watersports club on Lake Constance in Hagnau. The club uses Hagnau harbour with its pier (Bruck) and moorings and keeps club boats such as the sailing yacht Shogun, a naval cutter, the Stima and a dinghy for members, training and visitors. Children and juniors sail Optimists; beginners from about age ten and advanced sailors train on Friday afternoons. Club life includes pier gatherings (Brückenhocks), in-house regattas such as the small 2026 race, cruising and community activities around the new harbour. After the 2026 board change under Jürgen Schmülling, WSGHa remains a lively hub of the Hagnau sailing scene.
History
Wassersportgemeinschaft Hagnau e.V. (WSGHa) is registered under VR580511 at the Freiburg register court and is based in Hagnau on Lake Constance. For years the club closely followed harbour development: construction of the new Hagnau harbour began in October 2023; previously WSGHa had taken a public stance in the referendum and the “Auf zum neuen Ufer” process. In June 2025 the club helped inaugurate the new harbour with a drinks stand and by bringing the mayor and clergy into the harbour aboard the naval cutter. The traditional cutter also played a central role in 2024 and 2025: with support from Hagnau town hall it returned to the water and temporarily berthed at BSB harbour Meersburg; in July 2025 it served for the first time as a wedding water taxi. The club yacht Shogun received a major refit in 2026 and was relaunched in Meersburg. In April 2026 the board changed: after nine years as 1st chair, Günther Allmendinger did not stand again; Jürgen “Max” Schmülling became 1st chair and Anna Velten secretary. Philipp Heck is deputy chair, Reiner Happel treasurer. Club life features general meetings at the Gwandhaus, season kick-offs, pier gatherings, Optimist youth sailing, cruising, Bodensee Clean Up and regattas off Hagnau.
