Wassersport-Club am Wittensee

The Wassersportclub am Wittensee e.V. (WSCW) is a sailing club on Lake Wittensee in Groß Wittensee, Schleswig-Holstein, and a member of the German Sailing Association, the Schleswig-Holstein State Sports Association and the Schleswig-Holstein Sailing Association. The club regularly offers courses for members and for the primary schools in Groß Wittensee and Borgstedt, and hosts major regattas such as the Wittensee Fight, Optimist meetings and Laser Masters. The club is known for professional regatta organisation in classes including 505, 29er, International 14, Musto-Skiff and Optimist, complemented by catering and a lively club life by the lake. For the 2026 season, the WSCW is planning the opening of the season with inauguration of a new swimming pier and an inclusive sailing project for children from Schule Hochfeld in Rendsburg. Anyone who wants to experience Lake Wittensee in a moderate easterly breeze will find community, sporting ambition and a varied programme on and by the water at the club.

History

The Wassersportclub am Wittensee e.V. is an established sailing club on Lake Wittensee in Groß Wittensee and has organised the renowned Wittensee Fight as a season-opening regatta for many years. As early as 2009 and 2011, major multi-class events were held there with 505s, 29ers, International 14 footers, Musto-Skiffs and other boat classes, known for professional race management, a family atmosphere and extensive catering at the club. The association is a member of the German Sailing Association (SH 081), the Schleswig-Holstein State Sports Association (LSV 70 978) and the Schleswig-Holstein Sailing Association. In addition to the sporting programme with training opportunities for the 505 class and regattas such as Laser Masters 2017, the club offers courses for members and for schools in the region. For the 2026 season, the WSCW is preparing the opening of the season with inauguration of a new swimming pier, the Wittensee Fight, Optimist and Feva meetings, Wittensee Masters and Foiling Days. A special new project from 2026 is inclusive sailing for children with mental and physical disabilities from Schule Hochfeld in Rendsburg, financed with support from Lions Club Rendsburg-Königsthor. Over many years, the club has established itself as a hospitable venue with dedicated helpers and vibrant club life on Lake Wittensee.
