Wassersportverein Buckau-Fermersleben e.V.
Wassersportverein Buckau-Fermersleben e.V. (WBF) in Magdeburg is the largest water sports club in Saxony-Anhalt with more than 300 members and a strong sailing section of around 200 active sailors. The club is located at Elbe kilometre 322 on the left bank and also runs a water sports facility in Plaue near Brandenburg on Lake Plauer See. Facilities include a marina, clubhouse with restaurant, boat halls, slipway and piers; classes sailed include Optimist, O-Jolle and Jollenkreuzer. Regular training and regattas for juniors and adults, events such as the Easter Egg Regatta and Egg Liqueur Cup, and sailing on the Elbe and Lake Plauer See shape the programme. Since its founding in 1911 and the return to the historic name in 2000, the club has been a fixture of the regional sailing scene.
History
Wassersportverein Buckau-Fermersleben e.V. was founded in 1911. From 1946 to 1990 it existed as the company sports club BSG Motor Magdeburg Südost; in 1990 it became Fermersleber Sportverein and from 2000 has again been run as a registered association under its historic name Wassersportverein Buckau Fermersleben e.V. Magdeburg. In 2000 WBF e.V. was named Club of the Year at Hanseboot. Since 1993 the sports facilities have for many years been awarded the Blue Flag of Europe. The club has a 64,000 m² site in Magdeburg at Elbe kilometre 322 on the left bank and a water sports facility in Plaue near Brandenburg at Havel kilometre 68. Magdeburg offers a marina, clubhouse with restaurant and boat halls for about 130 craft, a sports hall with canoe teaching pool, sanitary facilities and a slipway for boats up to 14 m; the grounds are surrounded by a quarry lake of 140,000 m². The Plaue facility opened in 2003 opposite Plauer Schloss in Naturpark Magaretenhof with berths for about 100 boats, dry storage, winter storage and sanitary facilities. With more than 300 members WBF is the largest water sports club in Saxony-Anhalt; around 200 members are active in sailing. Plaue/Brandenburg: pier for 100 boats, boat hall, dinghy shore storage, slipway, mast crane, sanitary facilities, washing machine and dryer, parking, chemical toilet disposal, sewage pump-out station.

Sailing (racing and cruising), junior sailing with taster trips and Easter Egg Regatta, canoe racing and touring, stand-up paddling, dragon boat sport including hire and the Magdeburg Dragon Boat Festival.
Youth section
Active junior sailing section with taster trips on the Elbe and Lake Plauer See, annual junior Easter Egg Regatta on the Salbker lakes, and participation in state and national junior championships and training courses.
