RSCB – Remscheider Segelyachtclub Bevertalsperre e.V.

The Remscheider Segelyachtclub Bevertalsperre e.V. (RSCB) is a long-established sailing club located directly on the shore of the Bevertalsperre reservoir in the Bergisches Land region near Hückeswagen. Since its founding on 22 October 1961, the club has offered around 200 members a welcoming environment for both cruising sailors and competitive racers. The clubhouse with lakeside terrace, sanitary facilities and training rooms is available to members at weekends during the sailing season; several pontoons and storage racks provide berths for dinghies and keelboats. Active racing fleets sail in Optimist, ILCA and Korsar classes, and the club regularly hosts the Bergischer Regenschirm and Beverwoche regattas. An independent youth section for children and young people aged seven to nineteen, sailing licence courses, and Easter, summer and autumn camps round off the diverse club life on the Bever sailing area.

History

More than 60 years ago, on 22 October 1961, five sailing enthusiasts and two equally passionate women founded the Remscheider Segelyachtclub Bevertalsperre e.V. They could not have foreseen the dynamic development the club would undergo in the decades that followed. In the beginning the RSCB had no clubhouse; club life took place in a tent, which soon became too small as membership grew rapidly. The club then rented premises not far from today's club grounds, which were steadily expanded over the years. After many years of planning, the RSCB finally moved into its own clubhouse in the summer of 2010. Today the club offers around 200 members a family-oriented setting with all the necessary infrastructure for cruising and racing sailors alike. The clubhouse with lakeside terrace, sanitary facilities and training rooms is located directly on the shore of the Bevertalsperre and is available to members at weekends during the sailing season. Several pontoons and storage racks provide berths for dinghies and keelboats. The club's sailing area is the Bever reservoir, a 200-hectare lake with its characteristic anchor shape in the heart of the Bergisches Land, close to the town of Hückeswagen. For many years the RSCB has organised local leisure regattas open to everyone as well as demanding ranking regattas of national importance, regularly hosting the Bergischer Regenschirm in the Laser class and the Beverwoche in the Korsar class. The club maintains active racing fleets in these classes that successfully represent the RSCB at national and international regattas.
