RSC Losheim e.V.

History

RSC Losheim e.V. is an established sailing club at Losheim reservoir in Saarland. The club is home to an active community of sailors who train regularly in several boat classes and take part in regattas. Over the years, RSC has built a reputation as organiser of various local and national regattas. In 2022, the club welcomed the 470 class back after 23 years and, together with LVSS and the 470 class association, hosted a ranking event, the Masters Cup and the Saarland championship. Sailors from several federal states and from abroad took part. The Opti B Saarland championship has also been held repeatedly in Losheim, including in October 2020 and September 2017. The Micro Hochwaldcup counts towards the German Micro ranking list and is held regularly at the club grounds. In the Korsare class, RSC is active beyond the region and takes part in traditional events such as the spring meeting in Inheiden, the Spargel Cup in Graben-Neudorf, the International Kuhschelle at Alpsee and the Korsaren funnel at Brombachsee. Significant infrastructure projects have been completed at the club in recent years, including a new pontoon system and restoration of a damaged side pier by dedicated members. The clubhouse by the lake with covered balcony is the centre of club life and also serves as catering and meeting place during regattas. Since November 2021 there has been a password-protected members area on the website. Besides sport, the club also holds social events such as fireworks at the lake. The club championship and club master competition are fixed parts of the annual regatta calendar. With boat classes from Optimist via Laser, 420 and 470 to Korsare and Micro Cruiser, RSC Losheim offers a broad programme for young and old and combines regatta sailing with family-friendly sailing on the reservoir.
