Regensburger Segelsportgemeinschaft am Brückelsee e. V.

The Regensburger Segelsportgemeinschaft am Brückelsee e. V. (RSB e.V.) is a sport-oriented sailing club based in Regensburg with grounds on the dam between Lake Murner and Lake Brückel in the Upper Palatinate lake district. Home waters are Lake Brückel, a renaturalised former brown-coal pit of about 160 hectares that suits agile dinghies. The club offers a clubhouse, main jetty, dinghy pier, Optimist store, slipway and roughly 20 water and 40 shore berths. Classes sailed include Optimist, 420, 505, ILCA, Gruben Gipsy, Conger and Fam; youth coaching from age seven, Opti League events, club regattas and inland boat licence training shape the programme. Founded in 1994, the club now hosts events up to the Bavarian Conger Championship and has about 180 members.

History

The Regensburger Segelsportgemeinschaft am Brückelsee e. V. was founded on 5 March 1994 by seven Regensburg families; founding chair was Norbert Bittner. Founding families were Hrouda, Bittner, Feuerstack, Dr. Maier, Dr. Manz, Tuchscherer and Dickert. In the founding year members occupied a first site near industrial facilities and already staged regattas. Youth training began in 1995; in 1996 the club organised an Opti League regatta with 30 boats from Lower Bavaria and the Upper Palatinate and started inland boat licence (SBF Binnen) training. In 1997 a jetty with five water berths was built. In 1999 the club acquired leasehold land on the dam between Lakes Murner and Brückel; Helmut Hrouda succeeded Norbert Bittner as chair and organised planning and construction of the clubhouse. Building started in 2001; the main jetty followed in 2003, and in 2004 the dinghy pier opened together with the new clubhouse after 6,000 hours of volunteer work and the tenth anniversary. In 2005 Helene Tuchscherer organised the first youth camp on the new grounds; from 2006 Willi Schürmann continued youth training and internal regattas resumed. An Optimist shed was built in 2009. From 2010 RSB juniors achieved strong Opti League results, including wins by Patrick Fersch (2010), Viktoria Wagner (2011) and Philip Wagner (2012). From 2011 youth camps took place on other waters such as Lake Garda, Croatia and the North Sea, often with YCW and SCCR. Martin Bickel became chair in 2012; in 2013 Helmut Hrouda was made an honorary member and the DSV named the club a training club (renewed in 2015 for three years). The 20th anniversary and a yachting section followed in 2014. Peter Wackerbauer became chair in 2016; in 2017 the club received the BSV youth award. The 25th anniversary was celebrated in 2019. 2020/2021 were shaped by Covid with a successful hygiene concept. A garage for a motorboat and tools was built in 2021/2022; inland licence training restarted in 2022. In 2023 the dinghy pier was renovated and a Conger ranking regatta hosted; 2024 brought slipway renovation, Hubertus Rümler as chair, the 30th anniversary and the Bavarian Conger Championship. Today the club has about 180 members, roughly 55 family and 15 guest/passive memberships, and about 20 water and 40 shore berths.
