Råå Helsingborg Segelsällskap
Råå Helsingborg Segelsällskap (RHSS) is southern Sweden's largest racing sailing club, located at Råå Hamn on the Öresund near Helsingborg. Founded on 30 June 1970, the club describes itself as "the boat club for everyone" and offers a full racing programme alongside regular Wednesday series sailing with around 17 events per season, including Ven Runt, RHSS Women's Race and single-handed racing. The clubhouse Råånocken hosts After Sail events, regatta dinners and social evenings; training is provided on the club's own boats Helga and Asta, with adult sailing courses and women's sailing camps. Members can also borrow SUP boards free of charge, and the club has a strong tradition of circumnavigators.
History
Råå Helsingborg Segelsällskap was founded on 30 June 1970 (association number 13140-32, organisation number 843000-7008) and is based at Västindiegatan 30 in Råå on the Öresund. The club grew into southern Sweden's largest racing sailing organisation and shapes the regional scene with events such as Ven Runt, weekly Wednesday series from May to mid-September with around 17 races per year, and the traditional Ärtseglingen season finale on a Friday in mid-September. The club magazine Roderbladet documents club history; selected historical articles are currently archived online as new issues are temporarily unavailable. The club has a vibrant tradition of circumnavigators: Kurt Björklund sailed his Monsun 31 "Golden Lady", now on display at Råå Museum. Other members completed long voyages, including Christina and Jan Backe on Hallberg Rassy 39 LIV and Birgitta Boye-Freudenthal and Eric Boye on Ariel IV. RHSS maintains the Råånocken clubhouse, club boats, a rentable club hall and social activities such as After Sail and the regatta dinner following Ven Runt.
