Real Club Náutico de El Puerto de Santa María
The Real Club Náutico de El Puerto de Santa María is a traditional sailing and sports club on the Bay of Cádiz, located directly on the River Guadalete. Since its founding in 1952, the club has offered sailing, canoeing, fishing as well as tennis and pádel in a family-friendly setting. Facilities include a marina, boatyard, restaurant, gym, presentation rooms and berths with direct river access. The sailing school trains around fifty children in Optimist and Laser; the club has also organised the Semana Náutica and the Regata Juan de la Cosa since the 1970s. More than 1,000 members and athletes take part in training, regattas and social events.
History
The Real Club Náutico de El Puerto de Santa María was founded in 1952 and has been a sporting and social landmark in the Bay of Cádiz for more than seven decades. Situated on the River Guadalete, the club promotes sailing, fishing, canoeing and tennis and combines sporting programmes with social services for its members. Since 1971/1972 it has organised as a regional pioneer the Semana Náutica de El Puerto de Santa María and other traditional events such as the Regata Juan de la Cosa, attracting crews from across Andalusia. The dinghy sailing school was reactivated and trains around fifty children in Optimist and Laser, with success at provincial and regional competitions. In 2015 the club was named Mejor Institución Náutica and ranks among Andalusia’s leading nautical institutions. Today the offer includes marina, boatyard, racket sports facilities, gym, restaurant and social rooms; over 1,000 members and active athletes shape club life.
