Real Club Náutico de Sanlúcar de Barrameda

Real Club Náutico de Sanlúcar de Barrameda is a traditional sailing club at the mouth of the Guadalquivir, where the river meets the Atlantic. Since 1969 the club has offered berths for more than 250 boats, a sailing school recognised by the Real Federación de Vela Andalucía, and moorings with boatman service and 24-hour surveillance. The programme serves members, juniors and adults with courses, training and regattas in classes such as Optimist, ILCA 4, ILCA 6 and ILCA 7. With around 800 members, club rooms, garden, barbecue area and a lively social community, the club is a fixed reference point of Sanlúcar de Barrameda's nautical tradition.

History

Real Club Náutico de Sanlúcar de Barrameda was founded on 16 July 1969. The founding meeting was held at the Escuela Filial del Instituto Social de Marina on Calle Ruiz de Somavía; 41 people, with the required permits, laid the foundation for one of the most representative nautical institutions at the Guadalquivir estuary. From that meeting came the first Junta Rectora chaired by Juan José Marmolejo, which shaped the society until the statutes were officially approved on 5 October 1970. At that General Assembly Antonio Barbadillo Romero was elected president, marking the start of a period of growth and consolidation. From the outset the club defined itself as a nautical entity whose purpose has been, is and will remain sailing and sea-related activities. Over the decades it became a reference point for sailing between the Guadalquivir and the Atlantic, with berths for more than 250 boats and an active community of around 800 members. The club organises annual regattas, sailing courses and social events and combines sporting promotion with social, tourist and cultural value for Sanlúcar de Barrameda. In August 2025 the club received the “Puerto de Sevilla” award from the Port Authority of Seville for promoting nautical sports and a sustainable relationship with the Guadalquivir.
