Ratzeburger Segler-Verein e.V.
Ratzeburger Segler-Verein e.V. is a traditional sailing club on Lake Ratzeburg and Domsee in the district of Herzogtum Lauenburg. Since 1929 the club has brought together more than 300 members in an active club life at one of the region's finest water-sports facilities. Behind the cathedral the grounds include a clubhouse, the eastern harbour with 50 wet berths, the western harbour with 36 berths, 21 dry berths and a club crane. Four motorboats support open and club regattas; club boats are also available for members' individual use. Volunteer coaches run intensive youth work with training in Optimist, Europe and Laser towards the junior sailing certificate. New members, beginners and sailing enthusiasts are welcome with or without their own boat.
History
Ratzeburger Segler-Verein e.V. was founded in 1929 and looks back on a long sailing tradition on Lake Ratzeburg and Domsee. Today the club unites more than 300 members in active club life and is among the well-known water-sports venues in Herzogtum Lauenburg. The grounds lie behind the cathedral and comprise a clubhouse and the eastern harbour with 50 wet berths. On the western shore of the cathedral island the western harbour gives 36 boats a quick start onto Lake Ratzeburg. There are also 21 dry berths; boats can be launched with the club's own crane. Four motorboats secure open and club regattas. A key focus is intensive youth work: volunteer and well-trained coaches accompany beginners from age seven through to A- and B-ranking regatta sailors. Training boats such as Optimist, Europe and Laser are provided; a goal of youth training is the junior sailing certificate. The RSV also keeps club boats for individual member use and organises races such as Monas-Sommer-Cup, the Lake Ratzeburg sailing championship and the RSV club championship. A webcam at the eastern harbour offers a live view of Domsee and Ratzeburg Cathedral.
