Ratinger Segelclub e.V.
Ratinger Segelclub e.V. is a small, active sailing club from the Ratingen area that has existed since 1983 and was founded as an independent association in 1991. Without its own clubhouse, the club maintains association boats on Lake Baldeney at Bootshaus Seehof in Essen and the Nord 80 FRYA with a berth in Heeg, Friesland, for cruises on Frisian lakes, canals and the IJsselmeer. Members sail Varianta, Conger, Randmeerjolle, 420 and Optimist dinghies; youth training takes place on Saturdays in a training alliance at the SG Ruhr pontoon. The club offers training courses for inland and sea sport boat licences, organises annual club festivals with club championships and regular club cruises on the Mediterranean, North Sea and Baltic Sea.
History
The Ratinger Segelclub has existed since 1983. Initially a sailing section of TUS Lintorf, the club was amicably founded as an independent association in 1991 and the TUS sailing section was dissolved. The club's aim is to promote sailing. Over the decades, the small club without its own clubhouse developed into an active association with its own boats on Lake Baldeney and in Holland. In 2015 the Conger dinghy AQUA ALTA was acquired; practical training for the inland sport boat licence took place on this boat. In May 2015, eleven sailing students met with trainers for practical training in De Koevoet, Friesland. On 10 April 2016, almost 40 members and interested visitors took part in the season opening at the Seehof boat yard on Lake Baldeney. The 2015 club festival was held on the Heegermeer in Friesland; in 2016, 40 sailing enthusiasts aged 6 to 77 celebrated Corpus Christi weekend in Sneek with a club regatta on Polyvalk boats. In 2018 the club acquired the used Nord 80 MKII FRYA in Bremerhaven with a berth at Van Roeden Watersport in Heeg. Club cruises have included trips around Elba in 2017, Croatia in 2018 and Mallorca and Ibiza in 2019. In 2026 the Randmeerjolle LAKE RUNNER was newly acquired on Lake Baldeney. The club cooperates in youth work with SG Ruhr 1929, Yachtclub Ruhrland Essen, Marine-Regatta-Verein Essen and Segelkameradschaft Hügel Essen in a training alliance.
