Roei- en Zeilvereniging Gouda
Roei- en Zeilvereniging Gouda (RZVG) is one of the oldest watersports clubs in the Netherlands and celebrates its 115th anniversary in 2026. The club is located in Reeuwijk-Brug between the Breevaart and the ās-Gravenbroekse Plas on the Reeuwijkse Plassen, offering rowing, sailing and SUP to around 1000 members. Facilities include a renovated clubhouse with terrace, boat sheds, marina berths and winter storage for sailboats. In-house CWO-certified instructors run training programmes; the fleet includes Optimists, Laser/ILCA, Randmeer and Centaur keelboats. Juniors train regularly in rowing and sailing, while adults enjoy recreational and competitive programmes. Highlights include the Goudse Zeilweek, international regattas and numerous touring trips on Dutch waters.
History
The history of Roei- en Zeilvereniging 'Gouda' (RZVG) begins on 4 February 1911, the date the club was founded in Gouda, making it one of the oldest watersports clubs in the Netherlands. The buildings and grounds are now situated on the ās-Gravenbroekse Plas in Reeuwijk, where the club offers rowing, sailing and SUP. From 1911 to the present day, RZVG has grown into a club of approximately 1000 members. Many Dutch, European and even world champions in rowing and sailing learned their basic skills at the club. RZVG is CWO-certified and run by an elected board supported by numerous committees; volunteer work by members is a key pillar of club life. The clubhouse at Notaris d'Aumerielaan 35 in Reeuwijk was recently renovated and includes a sociĆ©tĆ©, terrace, boat sheds, marina berths and winter storage. In 2026 the club celebrates its 115th anniversary with a major event on 12 September. For decades the Reeuwijkse Plassen have been RZVG's home waters; the club is committed to nature conservation, water safety and a vibrant community for athletes of all ages.
