Świdnicki Klub Żeglarski QBRYG
Świdnicki Klub Żeglarski QBRYG is a sailing club based in Świdnica in Lower Silesia with its own facilities and public-benefit status. The club headquarters is at ul. Kraszowicka 65B; the club harbour lies in Borzygniew on Lake Mietkowskie and includes a floating pontoon and the Bosmanka social container. The fleet includes Optimist and Cadet boats for youth and recreational sailing, with 420er and 470er classes planned and used at Zalew Witoszówka. The club runs yacht-sailor training (PZŻ), the Świdnickie Dni Żagli festival and regional regatta participation, and actively supports a youth section. More than 50 members form a growing sailing community around Świdnica and nearby waters.
History
Świdnicki Klub Żeglarski QBRYG is organised as an association in Świdnica and registered under KRS 0000238207; registration took place around 2005, with public-benefit (OPP) status since 2007. The founding group saw sailing as character-building sport and a way to integrate diverse social circles. Early on, the club established a harbour in Borzygniew on Lake Mietkowskie with a floating pontoon, the Bosmanka container and a training fleet of Optimist, Omega, the wooden DZ sail-and-oar launch and further craft. By 6 July 2008, 24 people had gained the PZŻ yacht sailor patent through club courses; proceeds went into building and maintaining the fleet. The club launched Świdnickie Dni Żagli with guests such as Jurek Porębski and honorary member Maciek Krzeptowski, shanty ensembles and family boat rides on Zalew Witoszówka. Further milestones included the Tall Ships rally in Szczecin with the historic Starsza Pani, regatta starts in Wrocław, Sława, on Lake Miedwie and the Szczecin Lagoon, and youth results in the Optimist class. A central project remained the renovation of the DZ launch as club flagship. Today the club has over 50 members, holds annual general meetings and campaigns for the 1.5 percent tax donation in support of sailing in Świdnica.
