Post-Sportverein Trier e.V. – Segelabteilung
The sailing section of Post-Sportverein Trier e.V. has been based on the upper Moselle barrage near Trier since 1969 and introduces sailing as a recreational sport to anyone interested. Its home waters are a roughly 200-metre-wide and more than four-kilometre-long stretch with little current between the weir and the Konz railway bridge. The venue is Yachthafen Monaise with 100 wet and 25 dry berths, a 6-tonne crane, a regatta tower, toilets and showers, and parking for boats, trailers, tents and motorhomes. The clubhouse is the Kajüte at Yachthafen Trier-Monaise; sailing is offered from age seven, and the section has about 360 members. Pleasure-craft licence courses and youth work complete the programme for beginners and experienced sailors.
History
The sailing section of Post-Sportverein Trier e.V. was founded in 1969 and belongs to the multi-sport club PST Trier, established in 1929 by postal employees. The overall club has been open to everyone for decades and today, with over 3,100 members and more than 30 sports, ranks among the region’s largest clubs; the sailing section itself has about 360 members. Home waters are the upper Moselle barrage at Trier, bounded downstream by the weir and upstream by the Konz railway bridge – a roughly 200-metre-wide and more than four-kilometre-long stretch with little current. Sporting and social hub is Yachthafen Monaise with 100 wet berths, 25 dry berths, a 6-tonne crane, a professional regatta tower, toilets and showers, and parking for boats, trailers, tents and caravans or motorhomes. The Kajüte clubhouse at Yachthafen Trier-Monaise is the sailors’ club centre. The section emphasises recreational sailing and youth development from age seven and offers courses for the pleasure-craft licence.
