Pontos A.S.D. "...il mare sulla via Emilia"
Pontos A.S.D. is an amateur sailing club in Campogalliano near Modena, sailing on the Curiel lakes in the quiet flood-retention basins of the Secchia. The base at Via Albone 14 shares the site with Circolo Arci Goldoni in the regional nature reserve Cassa d'Espansione del Fiume Secchia and offers club boats, a gear store, a multipurpose room and a pontoon for beginners and experienced sailors. The programme includes beginner and advanced dinghy courses from age 12, theory evenings usually on Tuesdays, weekend practice as well as social regattas and cultural outings; about ten club boats are available to members. Founded in 2009 in Modena and named after the ancient Greek sea god Pontos, the club is CONI-recognised and UISP-affiliated and promotes sailing for everyone, not only for the wealthy.
History
ASD Pontos was founded in 2009 in Modena by a group of friends aiming to spread nautical culture and popular, social sailing. The name refers to the oldest Greek sea god Pontos. The non-profit sports association is recognised by CONI and affiliated to UISP. Members organise introductory and specialised courses, theory meetings, themed evenings and social events to bring as many people as possible to the art of sailing. The club emphasises community and well-being in the group and wants sailing not to be reserved only for the affluent. The club base is in Campogalliano at Via Albone 14 on the Curiel lakes in the Secchia basins; use of the area and navigation on the lake are authorised by the Municipality of Campogalliano via Circolo Arci Goldoni. The current statute dates from 23 November 2023. The board for the 2026/2027 term was elected on 18 November 2025 and took office on 23 January 2026. The club fleet includes Optimist, Vaurien and Flying Junior as well as other club dinghies for beginner and advanced courses. Events such as social regattas, the Lake Festival and earlier activities such as Velalonga, summer camps and Barconana shape club life.
