Młodzieżowy Klub Żeglarski SZKWAŁ
Młodzieżowy Klub Żeglarski SZKWAŁ is a youth sailing club based in Gorzów Wielkopolski in Poland’s Lubusz Voivodeship. The club marina is in the village of Długie on Lake Lipie, while the correspondence address is in Gorzów Wielkopolski. The club runs seasonal regattas on Lake Lipie, including the Mayor of Strzelce Krajeńskie Cup, the Golden Bell regatta and the Blue Ribbon of Lake Lipie. Alongside lake-based club life, SZKWAŁ cooperates with schools in Gorzów and offers young sailors training and leisure cruises, for example to Bornholm and Amsterdam. Since its founding around 1999, the club has shaped the regional youth sailing scene and combines training, racing and community on the water.
History
Młodzieżowy Klub Żeglarski SZKWAŁ celebrated its 15th anniversary on 17 May 2014, which places its founding around 1999. The youth sailing club from Gorzów Wielkopolski has its marina in Długie on Lake Lipie and is firmly rooted in the sailing region around Strzelce Krajeńskie. Over the years the club established a regular regatta programme on Lake Lipie, including the Golden Bell (Złoty Dzwon) and Blue Ribbon (Błękitna Wstęga) events as well as two-day season-opening races. In 2021 the club documented early-season work; in 2022 and 2023 photo and video reports of regattas and club activities followed. In cooperation with Zespół Szkół Gastronomicznych in Gorzów Wielkopolski, SZKWAŁ organises educational sailing projects and training cruises, including a 2023 recreational and training voyage from Szczecin to Bornholm and Christiansø and a further trip to Amsterdam. In 2025 and 2026 the club continues its season calendar with published regatta dates and a formal season opening. Today SZKWAŁ remains an active youth sailing club with a board, a correspondence address in Gorzów and a focus on juniors, racing and club life on Lake Lipie.
