Segler-Verein Purren Konstanz e.V. (SVPK) is a water sports club on Lake Constance in Konstanz-Litzelstetten with club grounds next to the lakeside bathing area. The club maintains a mooring buoy field off Litzelstetten, shares berths in the Staad marina and a jetty with YLM. Juniors from age nine train on Mondays in two groups; the programme includes taster sessions, regattas, sailing trips and holiday sailing. The club year features fitting-out, a club regatta with summer festival, laying-up, a regular get-together and joint work parties. Founded in 1973 with a focus on water sports and environmental protection, the club has about 131 members and an active lakeside community life.
History
At the founding meeting on 29 September 1973 in Litzelstetten, 35 founding members formed Segler-Verein Purren Konstanz e.V. (SVPK) to promote water sports with particular regard to environmental protection. The club settled on the property of former Lake Constance fisherman Franz Warnadin next to the Litzelstetten bathing beach; sports events and youth training still take place there. In 1981 the buoy field off Litzelstetten was approved. A planned pier could not be built despite long negotiations. After the Konstanz municipal utilities released the old ferry basin in Konstanz-Staad for a marina, the club joined the development and holds 13 berths available temporarily to members. The buoy field is managed jointly with YLM; there is also a shared jetty at the end of the field and dinghy storage on the club grounds. Club life includes the annual general meeting, grounds maintenance, laying of buoys, fitting-out, summer trips and club regatta with club festival, a weekly get-together, laying-up, an autumn hike and year-end celebration. As of January 2024 the club has 131 members.
