Seglervereinigung Havel e.V.
Seglervereinigung Havel e.V. (SVH) is a non-profit sailing club on Lake Stößensee in Berlin-Spandau, founded in 1925 with around 150 members, including more than 30 children and young people. The club grounds on Siemenswerderweg offer berths for over 60 boats, a clubhouse with large and small mess rooms, a slipway, mast crane and environmentally sound wash bay; adult members may use club boats at no extra charge. Weekly youth training in Optimist, Ixylon and 420, holiday sailing courses with youth sailing certificates, plus club and friendship regattas shape the programme. Highlights include the long tradition since 1925, the Blue Flag environmental award since 1996, and a sheltered harbour on Lake Stößensee with sailing grounds extending to Lake Krampnitz.
History
On 20 November 1925, 17 gentlemen met and founded Seglervereinigung Havel e.V. Three years later a leased plot was found; at the end of 2004 the property was purchased, enabling long-term planning. Gradually a clubhouse, sail lockers, shoreline reinforcement, berths for over 60 boats, a slipway, crane and environmentally sound wash bay were built. Since 1983 the SVH has held the annual Eisarschel race for boats that remain afloat in winter on the Lower Havel. Since 1996 the club has repeatedly received the Blue Flag environmental award. Together with neighbouring clubs SVSt, WSV 22 and YCSt, friendship races and rotating Thursday regattas take place. In 2025 the SVH celebrated its 100th anniversary; in 2026 the foundation festival is themed „SVH turns 101!“. Today the club has around 150 members, including more than 30 children and young people, and is rebuilding its jetty (Charlottenburg jetty) in 2026.
