Seglervereinigung Hüde e.V.
Active sailing club on Lake Dümmer with over 300 members, a strong regatta scene and intensive youth work. The SVH is a stronghold for Europe dinghy training, offers Opti and Teeny courses and hosts high-profile racing series such as Rohrdommel, Haubentaucher, Glasenuhr and Dümmer-Traditional. The environmentally oriented harbour built in 2005 with six slipways and the renovated clubhouse form the centre of club life.
History
Seglervereinigung Hüde e.V. (SVH) on Lake Dümmer is one of the long-established sailing clubs in Lower Saxony with an impressive regatta record: world, European and German champions, Lower Saxony youth and junior champions, and successes at Kiel Week and Travemünde Week shape the club's history. Since 1987 the Blue Flag has been awarded in cooperation with F.E.E.; the SVH has received this distinction repeatedly, including for the tenth time in 2015 as an exemplary sports boat harbour. After eight years of preparation, the first environmentally oriented inland harbour for sailing boats was built in 2005/2006 – a project demonstrating that sailing and nature conservation can coexist. The clubhouse was extensively renovated in recent years and remains the heart of the club. On the evening of 10 December 2020 the merger agreement for both clubs was signed before a notary. With effect from 1 January 2021, Bielefelder Segelclub and Seglervereinigung Hüde merged under the Transformation Act, with Bielefelder Segelclub being absorbed by the SVH. In recent years the SVH has become a stronghold for Europe dinghy training; many young sailors are trained in Optimist, Europe and Teeny classes. The club hosts high-profile racing series annually for the Dümmer racing community – including Rohrdommel, Haubentaucher, Glasenuhr, Dümmer-Traditional and Hüder trophy races – and organises at least one German championship per year. Despite increasing cost pressure and competition from other sports, the club is rejuvenating through many new youth members and remains a fixture in the Dümmer sailing scene.
