SV Einheit Güstrow e.V. Abteilung Segeln
The sailing section of SV Einheit Güstrow e.V. is based at Lake Inselsee in the Barlach town of Güstrow in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and belongs to a multi-sport club with nearly 300 members. The club grounds at An den Bootshäusern 36 offer a boathouse and moorings; the boathouse burned down on 5 September 2025 and is being rebuilt with donations. Classes sailed include Optimist, Cadet, ILCA, Ixylon, Pirate, 420 and cutter, with over 40 active juniors and about 80 members in the sailing section. The programme covers junior training in summer and winter, a summer camp with try-out and night sailing, and the traditional W&W Spring Cup, Auge Summer Regatta and AWG Nebelpokal.
History
SV Einheit Güstrow e.V. is the second-largest multi-sport club in the district and Barlach town of Güstrow and offers activities in eight sections, including an active sailing section on Lake Inselsee. The sailing section has around 80 members, more than 30 of them children and young people up to 25, and is a member of the German Sailing Federation and the German Optimist Dinghy Association. Each season the W&W Spring Cup, the Auge Summer Regatta and the traditional AWG Nebelpokal shape the racing year on the Inselsee; cutter match races and the ZK-10 challenge trophy also take place. At the 14th AWG Nebelpokal races were sailed in Optimist, Cadet, Ixylon and Laser. Young Cadet crews from the club qualified for the Cadet home world championship in Bodstedt, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The boathouse was reconstructed in 2016/17; on 5 September 2025 it burned down, prompting donation campaigns for rebuilding. The annual dragon boat festival on the Inselsee and the summer camp on the club grounds are fixed highlights of club life.
