Stenungsunds Segelsällskap

Stenungsunds Segelsällskap (STSS) is a Swedish sailing club in Stenungsund on Sweden’s west coast, offering sailing for all ages. The club introduces children from age five to the water and runs dinghy training in Optimist and ILCA as well as keelboat points racing together with IOD Fleet Sweden. Annual highlights include the national events Tjörn Runt by COWI and Lilla Tjörn Runt; in 2023 the club hosted the Junior National Championships with about 300 sailors and will stage the H-Boat World Championship and Junior Nordic Championship in 2026. A summer sailing school and a programme from beginners to world-championship level define the club’s offer.

History

Stenungsunds Segelsällskap provides sailing for all age groups and develops youth work from water familiarisation from age five through dinghy training. The club regularly organises racing at national level; recurring highlights are Tjörn Runt by COWI and Lilla Tjörn Runt, the dinghy distance race around Stenungsön. In 2023 STSS hosted the Junior National Championships in sailing with about 300 participants. For 2026 the club will organise the H-Boat World Championship from 3 to 8 August with the race centre at Lilla Brattön as well as the Junior Nordic Championship for dinghies. The keelboat section runs active points racing for much of the year together with IOD Fleet Sweden. In parallel the club offers a summer sailing school and welcomes sailors from beginners to world-championship level.
