Segel- und Tennisclub Rot-Weiß Ingolstadt e.V.

Segel- und Tennisclub Rot-Weiß Ingolstadt e.V. is a multi-sport club with sailing, tennis and archery sections, located in the recreation area at the gravel lake north of the Danube in Ingolstadt. Between the weir and the gravel lake are the sailors' clubhouse and a modern jetty giving access to the Danube reservoir sailing grounds; a clubhouse, tennis hall and outdoor courts complete the facilities. The programme includes the Donaucup at the Ingolstadt weir as well as tennis and archery for members of all ages. Founded on 12 January 1968, the club's history to this day is shaped by jetty renewal, hall construction and its lakeside location.

History

On 12 January 1968, Segel- und Tennisclub Rot-Weiß Ingolstadt was founded in a side room of Hotel Rappensberger. Sixty-three sailing and tennis enthusiasts, including 29 women, stood as sponsors; from the outset the club was meant to be a family club. The founding meeting elected Toni Resch as president, Hermann Dietz as vice president, Kurt Scheuerer as secretary and Gertrud Widmann as treasurer. Karl-Heinz Block was responsible for tennis, Horst Scheuerer for sailing, Werner Philipp for youth and Theo Delfried Domina for press. At the end of 1968 the club purchased an approximately 8,400 sq m plot for tennis courts for 64,000 DM; the ground was raised by about 1.30 m with spoil from the Danube weir. On Easter Sunday, 14 April 1968, the sailing section opened with a regatta; by August 1968 the club had 212 members and 24 sailing boats. From 1970 club-owned tennis courts were available, and in 1971 sailing moved from the gravel lake to the flooded Danube reservoir. 1972 brought a hereditary lease for the plot at the weir, 1973 the construction of a sailing sports building, from autumn 1974 the clubhouse at the tennis courts, and in October 1976 completion of the two-court tennis hall. On 23 July 1983 the archery range was inaugurated; the archery section grew from four founding members to 21 in the first year. Further milestones included the crane facility at the reservoir in 1990, clubhouse renovations in 2010/2011, the addition of a stand-up paddling section in 2019 and its dissolution in 2025, completion of the new tennis hall in 2020, and jetty renewal plus tennis courts 9 and 10 under the previous board with honorary president Gerhard Vonderthann. Since the 2025 general meeting, Alexander Baur, Gesine Slupik and Thomas Heinle form the new overall board.
