SV Stahl Finow Abteilung Segeln
The sailing section of Sportverein Stahl Finow e.V. is the state sailing centre of the Brandenburg Sailing Association and is located on Lake Werbellin in the Schorfheide. At the harbour in Wildau No. 37 in 16244 Schorfheide, an outer jetty, harbour area and boat house are available, complemented by a slipway with crane for dinghies and dinghy cruisers. The programme serves juniors and adults with training and regatta development in Optimist, ILCA and 420, plus guest berths by prior arrangement. Youth development has shaped the club since the 1960s; in 2026 the club hosts the International German Championship of the Pirate class on Lake Werbellin.
History
The sailing section belongs to the multi-sport club Sportverein Stahl Finow e.V. with badminton, gymnastics, handball, canoeing, chess, sailing and dancing, and is among the larger sports clubs in the Barnim district. Juniors have been trained in the sailing section since the 1960s; the first boat classes were Optimist and Pirate, later joined by Cadet. In the 1980s the training group reached up to 30 children, enabled by volunteer coaches and support from the Finow rolling mill. Today the section is the state sailing centre of the Brandenburg Sailing Association (VBS) and focuses on training young sailors and regatta development in Optimist, ILCA and 420. The club grounds on the western Werbellinsee in Wildau offer harbour, outer jetty and boat house; guests may use berths after prior registration. Regattas on Lake Werbellin such as Askaniercup, Seekreuzer regatta and Werbellinseeregatta shape the sporting year. In 2026 the club hosts the International German Championship of the Pirate class on Lake Werbellin and welcomes crews from Germany and abroad.
