Segelsällskapet i Jakobstad (SSJ) is an active sailing club in the Jakobstad region on Finland's west coast. The association maintains a high-quality guest harbour with around 20 berths, guest docks, electricity, water, septic tank emptying, sauna, washing machine, shower and WiFi, plus the Pavis restaurant nearby. SSJ encourages active boating for sail and motor boats, organises events and promotes good seamanship in the region. Founded in 1890, the club has about 450 members and welcomes visiting boats from June to August with roughly 2.5 metres of depth.

History

Segelsällskapet i Jakobstad (SSJ) was founded in 1890 and is a long-established sailing association on Finland's west coast. Over the decades it has grown into an active boating community with more than 450 members in the Jakobstad region. SSJ supports boating for both sail and motor boats, organises events and strengthens local boat sport. A core facility is the club-run guest harbour with more than 20 guest berths, buoy moorings, about 2.5 metres depth, and amenities including electricity, water, septic emptying, sauna, washing machine, shower and WiFi. The summer restaurant Pavis sits next to the harbour with a glazed terrace and harbour views. The guest harbour season runs from June to August; arrivals are announced by phone. Today SSJ remains a hub for active sea life and seamanship in the Jakobstad area.
