Surf- und Segel-Club Pulheim e.V.
The Surf- und Segel-Club Pulheim e.V. (SSCP) is an active watersports club on Lake Pulheim west of Cologne and has been based on the eastern shore since its founding in 1981. The sail-able water area currently covers about 25 hectares and is to be expanded to over 40 hectares; members use club-owned sailing dinghies and surfboards as well as the clubhouse, jetty and lake supervision. The programme includes youth and adult training, Optimist and SPOSS courses, regattas including the club championship and Cologne Cup, plus windsurfing, wingfoiling and pumpfoiling. DSV-awarded training for inland and coastal pleasure craft licences, SKS and radio certificates as well as cruising and club trips complete the offer and make the club a lively meeting point for sailors and surfers in the region.
History
Surf- und Segel-Club Pulheim e.V. was founded in 1981 and has for decades been based at Lake Pulheim in the Stöckheimer Hof recreation area. The website highlights the long presence at the lake (“45 years at Lake Pulheim”); at the 2025 open day Mayor Frank Keppeler congratulated the club on its 44th anniversary. The chronicle and photo gallery document among other things the hall construction in 2016 and the new jetty in March 2018. More recently the club invested in sustainability: a photovoltaic system on surf and Optimist containers with battery storage, and an electric coaching boat funded by the Marga and Walter Boll Foundation, largely powered by solar electricity. Sporting life is shaped by club championships, match races, the Cologne Cup for Open Skiff and RS 500, and surf, wingfoil and pumpfoil cups. For the sixth time the SSCP received the DSV award for outstanding training. Cruising and club trips, for example to the Veerse Meer or flotilla sailing around Funen, complement operations on the lake. A webcam has since mid-June shown panoramic views including the jetty heads and makes club activity visible from home.
