Segelsällskapet Åmålsviken
Segelsällskapet Åmålsviken (SSÅV) is the official sailing club in Åmål on Lake Vänern and has around 400 members. The club runs active dinghy and keelboat sailing aimed at both recreational and elite racing. Club rooms and the office are located at Åmål Sailing Centre with slipway, crane and pontoons; there is also a clubhouse on the club island Svegön. Regular activities include sailing school, adult sailing, courses and sanctioned regattas up to national and international championships. SSÅV also manages the harbours of Åmål municipality, handles launching and crane lifts, and is a member of the Swedish Sailing Federation and the Swedish Boat Union.
History
Segelsällskapet Åmålsviken (SSÅV) was founded on 1 January 1932 and is registered under association number 13050-32 and organisation number 862000-6307. Since its founding the club has developed into an active sailing association in Åmål offering both dinghy and keelboat sailing for recreational and elite sailors. Club rooms and the office are at Åmål Sailing Centre with slipway, crane and pontoons. The club also maintains a clubhouse on the club island Svegön. SSÅV organises sanctioned regional dinghy and keelboat events as well as national and international championships. The club administers the harbours of Åmål municipality and handles launching and haul-out. The current statutes were adopted on 15 April 2021. Today SSÅV has around 400 members and belongs to the Swedish Sailing Federation and the Swedish Boat Union.
