History
SSW Lidköping sees itself as a sailing club with Lake Vänern as its arena and the vision of developing sailing in Lidköping as well as possible – especially for young sailors. The club structure includes the board plus a racing section, sailing-school sections including Segelskola Bösshamn, a recreational sailing section and a facilities section. Central places of club life are Framnäs and Bösshamn: Bösshamn offers a pier, swimming, overnight cabin, sauna and a large cabin with kitchen; the club also uses a pier at Mista udde near Spiken in the Eken archipelago. Traditional events such as Midsummer at Bösshamn with flower picking, maypole, dancing, fika and dinner on the pier shape community life, as do voluntary work days and the popular morning fika at Framnäs on weekdays. The club fleet and training offer with Optimist, Mirror and 606, favourable boat hire and dinghy places support juniors. Today SSW has about 400 members with junior, senior and family memberships and remains an active part of sailing on Lake Vänern.
