Sandviks Kappseglingssällskap
Sandviks Kappseglingssällskap (SKSS) is a sailing club founded in 1941 in Sandvik, Torslanda, on Sweden's west coast near Gothenburg. The club enjoys an idyllic waterside location and focuses mainly on sailing schools for beginners and more experienced sailors. Facilities include Optimist dinghies, the club's own Two Krona boats and F2R craft, plus a clubhouse with changing rooms and a kitchen. The programme targets children from the year they turn eight, juniors and adults, with courses, evening sailing and a tradition of international success. Sailing school runs weekdays from 09:00 to 15:00; adult sailing schools and evening sessions are also offered in season.
History
Sandviks Kappseglingssällskap was founded on 1 January 1941 and is registered under association number 13511-32 and organisation number 857201-4770. The club is based at Krossholmsvägen 67 in Torslanda and describes its Sandvik setting as unique and idyllic. Over the years the club has achieved international success in sailing. Today the focus is on sailing schools in Optimist dinghies, Two Krona boats and F2R for beginners and more experienced sailors. With support from the City of Gothenburg, new Two Krona boats were acquired to make it easier for adults to start sailing. The sailing school offers weekly courses with theory and practice ashore and afloat, evening sailing in season and dedicated adult sailing schools. End-of-week demonstrations for parents and relatives and barbecue evenings are part of the programme. The club is linked to Västkustens Seglarförbund and maintains an active youth and training culture.
