Skive Sejlklub
Skive Sejlklub is an active sailing club at Skive Harbour on Skive Fjord in Denmark and serves as an open community hub for sailing enthusiasts of all ages. The club offers a clubhouse, a dinghy fleet of around 30 boats and winter storage, and welcomes members as well as visiting sailors and guests. The programme includes a junior sailing school from Optimist to 29er, regular youth training on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and weekly Wednesday keelboat racing on the fjord. Cruising, distance races around Trangmanden and Rotholm, winter lectures and courses shape the club year. Founded in 1933, the club is firmly rooted in the local sailing scene and is a member of Dansk Sejlunion.
History
Skive Sejlklub (SSJ) was founded on 17 September 1933 at Poul Pedersen's boat yard; at that time 13 boats lay at the pier. The club's history goes back to the 1930s and is documented among other things in aerial photos of the former Skive Harbour. For the tenth anniversary in 1943 Nørgaard Pedersen wrote about the club; the same year the Kragejolle Snarken became the club's school boat for about ten years. The Optimist class later entered the youth section; Carlo Jansson (Jas) was a member from 1934 until his death in 2009 and spoke about club life in 1963 and 1993. For the 60th anniversary in 1993 member Ernst L. W. Møller published "Skive sejlklub gennem 60 år" in 650 copies. The statutes have been amended several times since 1933, most recently on 31 August 2021. Today the club is active at Skive Harbour, a member of Dansk Sejlunion, and runs youth and racing programmes on Skive Fjord.
